The 2024–25 Budget provides $2.2 billion to enhance the quality of aged care services and the crucial connections supporting them. Older Australians will benefit from a higher quality aged care system with faster access to in-home care, a stronger workforce, and improved integration with health systems.
An additional 24,100 Home Care Packages in 2024–25 will cut wait times to an average of 6 months, enabling unprecedented access to in-home aged care. These new packages will complement the Single Assessment System starting on 1 July 2024, providing a single entry point and needs assessment for aged care.
